    • If a teenage girl was to show her underwear, she might be called provacative or inappropriate. Just like if a person shows off their acheivements and brags, they might be called annoying or rude because they consider themselves to be superior. Being humble can improve, if not save, a person's reputation. Showing a quiet confidence and self-pride is okay, but don't let all your undergarments hang out!

This quote means that somebody shouldnt be so proud of themselves and brag about all their achievements because that person will come off as a very proud person and annoying. You shouldnt think of your self as somebody who is always right and can never be wrong.

    • In another clever aphorism, Franklin offers his readers another piece of advice. It is expected that we show respect towards our superiors, which would include generally our older figures in our life (parents, teachers, ect.). If we remain humble in front of our peers (students, other people our age) we are being courteous/nice. Franklin concludes by mentioning the final and most significant aspect of the quote. We will have truly mastered the virtue of humility when we become humble towards those who are not as blessed as we are.

    • This quote is very strong and explicits in what it is saying. Satan was made into the devil and kicked out of Heaven because he tried to overthrow God. He was prideful, and believed that he should be the exulted one. That is what this quote is referring too, at least in the first half. The second half of this quote is referring to how men that are humble are those that go to heaven and become angels

This means that if one acts like they know everything and are better than everyone else, then they are setting themselves up for failure. Because with an attitude conceited, they will not get far in life.

This quote shows humility because it is saying one should not look down on, or think they are better than, anybody because they are probably not.

This quote, while meant to be a joke, holds some truth. Those who go out of the way to make themselves look better often face much more scrutiny than others. If they are incapable of backing this up, they are bound for failure.
